What we do:
FemmeForEducation is aimed at girls and young women with flight or migration background at the age of 16 to 27 years in Berlin with the aim of increasing their educational and vocational training opportunities as well as participation possibilities. The project comprises three areas of provision:
FemmeFürBildung Mentoring-Programm brings girls together with mentors to promote the girls’ individual interests and success at school and work. Girls are brought together with mentors for at least half a school year. They meet for at least two hours a week to talk about everything. Mentors and mentees are friends, role models, teachers and confidantes.
FemmeFürBildung Lerncampus takes place twice a year, in spring and summer, on the premises of the Alice Salomon Hochschule. In the mornings, 3 lecturers offer individual school support in needs- and age-appropriate learning groups in job-related German, English and in basic computer skills. Presentation and organisational skills are trained and letters of application are prepared.
FemmeFürBildung Medien und KulturLab. This is where girls and young women meet once a week with the aim of gaining qualifications in video work and exploring different job profiles. The short films are then presented in the cinema to a public audience as well as partner projects and schools. The media and culture lab offers safe spaces for girls and young women to explore their identity, get in contact with other girls and access needed resources.
